Introduction of Japan China Language Academy

 ◆ Greeting from the principal

Principal: Yutaka Tsuji, Professor emeritus Osaka Univ.

Japan China Language Academy (JCLA) is a Japanese language school with a long history. Although the school is not big, it is evaluated as an excellent school by the Osaka Immigration Bureau every year because of its noble educational policy and excellent teaching system.  The school history from its origin to today is described below. We are proud of the path we have taken and so we will not change the name of the school, that starts with the word “Japan-China”. However, at present, students from various Asian countries other than China such as Vietnam, Nepal, and Myanmar are studying in our school. The number of countries from which students come is expected to increase in the future. By joining the Group of Japan-China in 2022, the school has been reborn even stronger despite the corona pandemic. We really have the feeling of “After rain, the ground gets settled”. Teachers and administrative staff are working with a fresh feeling like never before. Osaka has long flourished as a commercial city. It is a very attractive city to live in. It is close to Kyoto and Nara which are the ancient capitals of Japan, and Kobe, a modern port town. We will welcome young people from many countries who want to learn Japanese with a warm attitude in terms of daily life and a strict attitude when it comes to studying.

◆ School history

1967
Osaka Chinese Language Academy (OCLA) opens. It is attached to Japan-China Friendship Association of Osaka Pref. OCLA was temporarily closed and reopened in 1971. The year 1971 is formally designated as the founding year of OCLA. OCLA is the origin of the Japanese-Chinese Language Academy(JCLA).
1983

Many Japanese war orphans (total:2700) remained in China even after the world-war II. They came back from China nearly 40 years later after the end of world-war II. OCLA offered a tuition-free Japanese language school for such war orphans.  (See 1995 article in this table.)
